A Second-Order Accurate Method for Solving the Signed Distance Function Equation

چکیده
We present a numerical method for computing the signed distance to a piecewise-smooth surface defined as the zero set of a function. It is based on a marching method by Kim [Kim01] and a hybrid discretization of firstand second-order discretizations of the signed distance function equation. If the solution is smooth at a point and at all of the points in the domain of dependence of that point, the solution is second-order accurate; otherwise, the method is first-order accurate, and computes the correct entropy solution in the presence of kinks in the initial surface.

A Backward Point Shifted Levelset Method for Highly Accurate Interface Computation
We propose a technique that could significantly improve the accuracy of the levelset method and has the potential for fully conservative treatment. Level set method uses the levelset function, usually an approximate signed distance function Φ to indirectly represent the interface by the zero set of Φ. When Φ is advanced to the next time level by an advection equation, it is no longer a signed d...
متن کاملA Fast and Accurate Expansion-Iterative Method for Solving Second Kind Volterra Integral Equations
This article proposes a fast and accurate expansion-iterative method for solving second kind linear Volterra integral equations. The method is based on a special representation of vector forms of triangular functions (TFs) and their operational matrix of integration. By using this approach, solving the integral equation reduces to solve a recurrence relation. The approximate solution of integra...
متن کاملAn efficient numerical method for singularly perturbed second order ordinary differential equation
In this paper an exponentially fitted finite difference method is presented for solving singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems with the boundary layer. A fitting factor is introduced and the model equation is discretized by a finite difference scheme on an uniform mesh. Thomas algorithm is used to solve the tri-diagonal system. The stability of the algorithm is investigated. It ...
متن کاملApproximate Solution of the Second Order Initial Value Problem by Using Epsilon Modified Block-Pulse Function
The present work approaches the problem of achieving the approximate solution of the second order initial value problems (IVPs) via its conversion into a Volterra integral equation of the second kind (VIE2). Therefore, we initially solve the IVPs using Runge–Kutta of the forth–order method (RK), and then convert it into VIE2, and apply the εmodified block–pulse functions (εMBPFs) and their oper...
متن کاملSolving A Fractional Program with Second Order Cone Constraint
We consider a fractional program with both linear and quadratic equation in numerator and denominator having second order cone (SOC) constraints. With a suitable change of variable, we transform the problem into a second order cone programming (SOCP) problem. For the quadratic fractional case, using a relaxation, the problem is reduced to a semi-definite optimization (SDO) program. The p...
